About Me

My name is Lisa. My first real passion for Italian food began nearly 20 years ago in a small restaurant in Tavernelle di Pisa, Italy with a plate of fresh tagliatelle with truffles.  I never knew pasta could be so divine!  It opened up a whole new, unknown and delicious world for me.  I subsequently, or is that consequently(!), married an Italian.  Thanks to my husband, I am also a bona-fide Italian as well as a New Zealander (kiwi).  Because of growing up in New Zealand on a sheep farm, where we only ate produce fresh off the farm, I have always cooked from scratch.  I have an unbridled enthusiasm for experimenting with new recipes and cuisines, which often have an international flavour due to the unexpected path my life has taken over the years, leading me all over the world.  As a child, I always wondered where the gravel road with grass growing down the middle of it that started outside our farm gate would go.  Who knew it would end up in France where I live now with my husband, our two boys (11 and 13) and one very fat cat. I decided to write this blog to share my love of cooking and travel, particularly focused on Italy, which has become such a huge part of my life, and with some side trips to other parts of the world as well.

You can find out more about the farm in New Zealand that I grew up on here.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it for you!
